Somewhere there must have been written a rule about taking photos of police dogs. It would go something like this: When taking a photo of a police dog, make sure the dog is posing with an officer in front of a police car.
It’s easy to go with the first thing we think of. For photogs covering police dogs, apparently the first thing they think of is this posed, predictable shot. How much better to surprise the reader with something dramatic and unexpected.
How many times do we go with our first idea and stop thinking there. I challenge you to think of one more option. It might just be the better one.
