Don’t let your opinions sneak in

Journalists don’t put their thoughts and opinions in anything except columns and editorials. Doing that is referred to as “editorializing.” Instead our job is to ask others for their thoughts and report them to our readers. Here are some examples of editorializing in the first issue.

We also editorialize in a headline and the piece doesn’t support it.

The headline of this piece is an opinion, and I totally disagree, by the way. I think DeKalb is way more than Cornfest. My initial thought was who the heck said this? It turns out no one did, based on the story. Make sure you find a fact in the story that you can point to as the inspiration.
